Juicy on the inside, golden on the outside, and loaded with melty cheese—these are easy, oven-baked comfort food at its best.

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef (or chicken)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 egg

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika or chili flakes (optional)

  • 1 tsp mixed herbs (oregano/Italian seasoning)

  • 1 cup mozzarella or cheddar, shredded

  • Oil spray or a little olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a tray with parchment.

  2. Mix meat, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, spices, and herbs until just combined.

  3. Shape into patties. Press a little cheese into the center (or sprinkle on top).

  4. Bake 18–22 minutes, flipping once.

  5. Broil (optional) 2–3 minutes at the end for extra golden cheese.

Serve With

  • Garlic bread or dinner rolls

  • Mashed potatoes or fries

  • Fresh salad + dipping sauce (ketchup, mayo, or garlic aioli)

Tip: For extra flavor, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce or swap half the breadcrumbs for crushed crackers.
